It is really difficult to pick a favorite song, but for the past many months it's been "Endless Night" from The Lion King Original Broadway Cast soundtrack. I discovered the musical last summer, and I fell in love with this song. I had already loved the score maybe more than the movie's lyrical songs already, so when this part of the score was made into a song, I was absolutely floored. Jason Raize had such a beautifully powerful voice, and the emotion in it is so compelling. It's so tragic that he wasn't around much longer - I feel like he had so much more to give to the world. "Shadowland" is also a very good piece of score turned song in the musical, but "Endless Night" I have listened to on repeat because I love listening to it, as well as in a therapeutic manner to calm down when I've been nervous or anxious. So that's my speech on this song. Just absolutely beautiful. Have a listen (plus bonus "He Lives In You")!

Bottom line: I am SO excited to see "The Lion King" next month. SO. EXCITED.

Also, a random thought: Today I had such a bad case of "slippy sock" from that Ted/Victoria fic by [livejournal.com profile] dipenates Anyway, it made me think of that fic. Good times. :)

Victoria is ridiculously cute. I still sometimes miss her. WAIT. Did they mention her in last night's episode with all the other ex-gfs??? I only saw bits and pieces of it before jetting off to rehearsal - I need to rewatch...

I really am so excited to see TLK - I'd been kicking myself since I missed the last opportunity 6 years ago, so I'm really glad they're back in Boston again!!

I love that you chose this song. My personal favorite is He Lives in You, but there's something so hauntingly beautiful about that one. My heart just aches when I think about Jason Raize. Anyway I hope you have a great time seeing the show. :):):):) It's so awesome!

Oh, I love He Lives in You, and really everything, but also in particular King of Pride Rock/Circle of Life. I start to cry every time I hear the bit of score in both the musical and movie where he makes the long walk up Pride Rock... because I am a sap. It's so emotional, though!!

I absolutely cannot wait. I was mad at myself for not seeing it when it was in town my freshman year of college (so long agoooo!), and when I heard it was going to be back, I rallied my friends and made sure we bought tickets the first day they went on sale. I have been waiting so long to see this musical, and the movie is pretty much my all time favorite.

Aw, I totally know. The tour was in Des Moines in January and my sister went, but the weather was AWFUL all that week so I didn't end up going (it's a two hour drive). But I did see it when I first went to New York so that's okay. I literally cried throughout the entire first scene; it was so incredible. And at the beginning of the second act when some of the performers stood in the aisles, one of them was RIGHT NEXT to me, and his costume brushed over me through the whole song-- it was so awesome!!!!!!!! GOD it was an incredible show. I used to say that my best theatre-going experience was Phantom of the Opera but The Lion King now probably trumps that. :) I hope you have tons of fun and blog about the show!

TLK is one of my absolute favorite movies. I can't wait to see it on the stage.
